Content Marketing: What That Means & Why It Works

If Google has taught us anything, it is that purposeful and well-thought-out content is king. In fact, Google algorithm changes are focusing more and more on content that’s geared toward consumer pain points and queries than anything else. One way to stand out among your competitors is to offer killer content!

Content Marketing

There are several types of content that a business can use. Content marketing can be a cost-effective way to bring in new leads and help push customers through to the next level in your customer funnel. Remember, creating content for content’s sake is not worth as much as thoughtful and information-rich content.

Information Rich Content

As an alternative to sharing other websites’ information, take some time to create original pieces of your own. In this case, quality over quantity can be what drives leads to your site. Some of the most helpful content for your audience helps solve customer issues. Find out what is causing the most trouble for your target audience and create pieces that solve these issues. If you create consistent content, your customers will grow accustomed to looking to you for the answers they need, building a trusting relationship that they can count on.

Blogs

Blog posts are a terrific way to gain traffic to your website. When written for search engine optimization, blogs can be the perfect item to grow an audience for your brand. Remember, blogs need to be purposefully written. Therefore, when used correctly a blog can help establish your company as an expert in your industry.

Videos

Videos are another wonderful way to reach your audience. Through a series of short, attention-getting videos, you can really impact your customers in a big way. Your videos can be on anything from products, services, or solutions that you provide. It is a great idea to think of videos you create as commercials and should be about that length. 30-60 seconds is enough to grab the attention of your customers, answer their questions, and finish up before losing their attention.

Infographics

Infographics can provide a lot of valuable content in a concise manner. As your customers look to solve their pain points, they may be doing a lot of research. It is always nice to find quick answers in an easily digestible format. That is where infographics shine. Along with infographics, checklists can accomplish the same thing, they just might not be as exciting to look at.

Webinars

Webinars can help build relationships with your customers and leads. As you build a webinar, keep in mind which pain point or area of concern you are addressing. Thanks to current technology, these webinars can be recorded and stored on your website for consumers to watch and review at a later date. Make sure your presenters are pleasant and knowledgeable to further reinforce the idea that your company is the authoritative figure in your industry.

Ebooks

Ebooks allow you to deep-dive into the topics that are most meaningful to your clientele. They allow you to put in as much written content as you would like with eye-appealing graphics and formatting that keep the attention of your customers. Ebooks are great to have in your arsenal, as many people choose to gatekeep these items. In order for people to download and consume these pieces, many websites will have consumers fill out an interest or contact form for access. This allows you the information you need to move this contact into your marketing & sales funnels.

Newsletters

Although many people do not like to take the time to create a well-crafted email anymore, newsletters should not be counted out. A great emailed newsletter can alert your customers to new products and new developments in your industry. With the use of clickable links, you can help drive traffic to your website. If you create emailed newsletters on a regular basis, your customers can come to rely on you for the newest information and updates on your industry.
