Why is creating blogs an important new strategy in business, and specifically, the telecom market? You may even be thinking to yourself… Why on earth do I need a blog? My website says what I sell. My contact information is right there, people can call me if they have questions. Adding something else to my website? What a nuisance! 

Well, telecom blogs are fantastic pieces of content and are completely worth breaking past all your initial hesitation and jumping into! The great thing about blogs is that while the initial creation may sound like a hassle, once it’s completed, they are ridiculously low maintenance and benefit you time and time again.  Blogs are an important part of your inbound marketing strategy.

So first and foremost, why do you need a telecom blog? Well, how do web visitors get to your site? Sure, sometimes Googling “Telecom Company Near Me” may lead them to you. But what if they don’t know they’re looking for a telecom company? You’ve been in your field likely for years, but Susan who runs the business a couple towns over hasn’t been. And all she knows is that she needs help finding a way to access her business files from home instead of just at the office. So, she’s going to look into that topic. Now want to guess where that leads? Yup, she’s landed on a blog! Did you know that 77% of internet users read blogs? 

That’s organic traffic/SEO at work. Even better? It’s practically FREE! They set that blog up, who knows how long ago, and that was it. They now have a website visitor they didn’t have to pay for. Additionally, she’s now building a relationship with the company who’s blog it is without even being aware of it.  

How this Could be Benefiting YOU

Let’s say that the blog she landed on was yours now. She’s on your page. GREAT! That’s half the battle! Now that blog is beginning to build trust in your company with her. She’s getting educated on a topic and being taught WHY she needs a certain product. Well, it’s awfully convenient that the blog that just educated her is on a site that carries that product. Not only is she now educated and placed directly in front of your product, you have now done this in a way that seems helpful and friendly, not sales pitch-y and pushy. She came to you, she knows what she needs, and she trusts your product because you’ve proven yourself knowledgeable on the topic. And you haven’t even learned her name yet.  

Additional Telecom Blogging Benefits 

Remember how it’s just sitting there, minding its own business? Say a potential client reaches out to you and has heard about a service you offer but doesn’t quite understand it. Absolutely explain it to them, but it doesn’t hurt at all to throw in there, “You know, I have a blog available on this topic, how about I shoot that over to you as an additional resource so you can feel confident this is the right product for you?”. Additionally, you may also have service providers who offer your products. These blogs make great tools for them as well to send clients your way if they want to familiarize with your product before locking in. 

What Should I Blog About? 

That all sounds pretty great right? Free organic visitors, pre-established relationships, even potentially setting yourself up to be an industry thought leader by proving your knowledge and becoming a reputable information source. But how do you know what to blog about? That can be easily decided by just asking yourself a few simple questions: 

  •  What do you want to be known for? 
  • Who are you trying to sell to? 
  • What are people in your market talking about right now? 

Your telecom blogging topics should all revolve fundamentally around these three questions. If you sell UCaaS Solutions, but only through service providers, center your blogs around what your service providers want to hear. Is there something that’s all the rage right now? Utilize that trend and put yourself into the narrative with a twist that ties it back to your foundation.

I know it can seem daunting. Marketing has changed so much over the years, and it seems to be heading in a new direction every quarter. The best thing about these changes is that it costs nothing to maintain it once you’re content is setup. Your blog can sit there for years to come with little to no editing and STILL draw in visitors to you.
