Why You Need Marketing: Regardless of How Great Your Product Is

When businesses are first beginning, they start with pretty high hopes. Most people who decide to start a company based on the service or product they sell are confident that what they sell is good or even great. Therefore, some make the mistake of thinking that their product alone is enough to become successful. Unfortunately, that is not true.

Having a fantastic product to sell is merely a part of the puzzle, and marketing is the part that will complete it. Marketing is the set of tools that will put your business on the map for consumers to consider buying from you in the first place. Read on to learn just why you need marketing.

Is A Good Marketing Strategy What Has Been Missing All Along?

In a recent interview with one of our customers, Brandon Burchard from MiSwitch Communications, he expressed: “As a business owner, I always wanted to convey to my customers and colleagues that my organization was high-end and of excellent quality. I believed that marketing was our missing link and that we were not performing well in that area. However, when we began working together (with GreenStar Marketing), I realized the significance of partnering with industry experts who understood our telecom business.”

What GreenStar Marketing did for MiSwitch Communications was create a great marketing strategy. Once mutually agreed upon, GreenStar was able to help execute said strategy for MiSwitch to see real results while building brand awareness and reputation, generating leads and sales, and ultimately growing the business.

Smaller Business: Is Wearing All the Hats the Right Choice?

Businesses often begin with small teams. Or, in some cases, just one person doing everything. However, one person can’t keep up with the company’s marketing needs. During our interview, Brandon also mentioned struggling with something similar.

He said: “We’re still a young company. So, wearing many hats and marketing was just one of those areas that I knew would fall to the wayside as we got busy doing other things and wanted to get an early start in our company by building best practices around marketing and certainly utilizing it as a tool to generate a return at some point.”

Trying to do it all by yourself can often mean that things don’t get done correctly, or worse, they don’t get done at all. The good news is that you don’t have to do everything yourself!

Outsourcing your marketing efforts can save you time and money. While an external force is working on your marketing, you (and your employees) are free to work on your other revenue-producing activities that you specialize in. This alone saves you money; no one is stuck wasting time trying to figure out how to work on something they know nothing about.
